Location

Afton Oaks is located within the Interstate 610, conveniently placed between the Highland Village and Uptown Houston. Environment

Afton Oaks was formerly a ranchland and started development in the 1950s. You can still find traditional ranch houses in Afton Oaks. As the Civic Club manages the deed restrictions, the environment has an almost homogenous look characteristic of suburban homes.

Several community projects are also made to improve the look of the area. Tree-lining projects are underway, and so are other beautification projects under the Neighborhoods to Standard project.

Part of the amenities in the community is having its own garbage collection due to an agreement with the BFI. Also, Afton Oaks has off-duty policemen patrolling the community to maintain security and order in the area, and also to enforce deed-restriction agreements on some occasions. The community also has its own local newsletter for local news and updates.

Combine them all together, Afton Oaks is a good location if you want to raise a family in a peaceful, clean, and orderly environment. The advantage with living in Afton Oaks is that you do not need to stray far from the city to get all these features.
