Elementary Schools

• Creech Elementary School at 5905 South Mason Rd. Sue Creech Elementary School is within the master-planned community of Cinco Ranch. It was established in 2000 and was named for a long-time KISD teacher. The school rating has an 8/10 GreatSchool.org rating.

• Hayes Elementary School at 21203 Park Timbers Ln.Located near Kelliwood Trails and Kelliwood Gardens, Jeanette Hayes Elementary School was established in 1995. The TEA gave it an Exemplary rating. GreatsSchool.org gave it a rating of 9/10.

• Pattison Elementary School at 19910 Stonelodge Dr. Hazel S. Pattison first opened the elementary school in 1989. The US Department of Education awarded it as one of the National Blue Ribbon Schools. It was also included in the Just For Kids Honor Roll for Academic Excellence. GreatSchools.org rated it as 9/10.

Middle Schools

• Beck Junior High School at 5200 S Fry Rd. Rodger and Ellen Beck Junior High School first opened in 1996. It received a National Blue Ribbon School award and a TBEC Honor Roll recognition. Children at Risk ranked Beck JH as one of the best schools. GreatsSchool.org awarded a 10/10 rating for this school.

• McMeans Junior High School at 21001 Westheimer Pkwy. Founded in 2000, McMeans Junior High has received several awards. It received a rank from Children at Risk in Greater Houston School Rankings. McMeans JH has great academics, a variety of electives, and a strong athletics program. The school received a 9/10 rating from GreatSchool.org.

High Schools

• Cinco Ranch High School at 23440 Cinco Ranch. The KISD named it a National Blue Ribbon School. Newsweek also included Cinco Ranch High School in Top High Schools. It was higher than its fellow KISD high schools. It also received a rank in the local “best schools.” The Houston Chronicle included Cinco Ranch HS in their list as well. It received a rating of 8/10 from GreatsSchool.org.

• Taylor High School at 20700 Kingsland Blvd. The KISD listed Taylor HS as National Blue Ribbon School. It is the second-oldest high school in the district. Newsweek has included the high school among the best public high schools in America. GreatSchool.org rated the high school with 7/10.

Kelliwood Katy History

Master-planned communities in Greater Katy emerged in the 1980s. It includes some of the bigger developments in the area today. These are Cinco Ranch, Green Trails, and Kelliwood.

Earlier, the majority of the area was rural. Farms and working cattle ranches occupied most of the west of Houston and south of the city of Katy. Several factors brought development into the area. It includes easier access to Houston via Interstate 10 and the demand for more housing.

Kickerillo Companies, headed by Vincent Kickerillo, developed several Houston area homes and communities. It includes Kelliwood and Lakes of Parkway.

Kickerillo named the subdivision development project in east Katy after his daughter Kelli. Each subdivision offered something a bit different. Some areas showcased lakes, while others were along a golf course.

Today, Kelliwood homes still offer great value. Top schools, employment opportunities, business hubs, and its prime location made it popular.

Fun Things To Do Near Kelliwood

Kelliwood provides residents with unique amenities. to suit different tastes. The neighborhood features parks, swimming pools, lakes, tennis courts, playgrounds, and trails.

George Bush Park, a 7,800-acre park, is near Kelliwood. The park has sports facilities (soccer, softball, and baseball), parks, playgrounds, and trails. The park also features a field for flying a plane.

Some luxury subdivisions in Kelliwood each have a central lake. Residents can enjoy their non-motorized watercraft, such as paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes. Residents enjoy access to Willow Fork Country Club's golf course in other subdivisions.

The private country club has a golf course, different facilities, and amenities. Non-members of the club can rent the club’s facilities for functions and events. Cinco Ranch and the Meadowbrooks Farm Country Club have daily-fee Golf Clubs.
