Springwoods Village is part of a larger neighborhood called Spring.

Native Americans used to inhabit the Spring area thousands of years ago. It became part of Harrisburg municipality in Texas in 1836. During the 1800s, this neighborhood became famous for its sugar cane, cotton, and vegetable crops.

Spring started to expand after the International-Great Northern Railroad opened in the late 1800s.

In 1990, the neighborhood had a total of 33,111 residents.
