“Being a first time buyer is scary and no matter how much we prepared it still felt like it wasn’t enough. Shannon was so kind, patient and helpful every step of the way. She knew our budget and never showed us a house over it. She helped us find a lender, gave us references for people who could get us quotes for repairs/remodels and walked us through everything. Literally anything we needed she helped us with. It was such a smooth process even with the buyer in a different country.” - Carissa Drury (Google Review)

Sugar Creek TX History

Sugar Creek is nestled in Sugar Land.

The land covering the Sugar Land was received by Samuel Williams in the 1820s. It was purchased by his brother in the 1830s, and had their other brother operate what was known as the “Oakland Plantation”.

In the 1850s, ownership was transferred to Benjamin F. Terry and William J. Kyle. The Colorado Railway extended through the property. The death of both owners leads to the downfall of the plantation.

Colonel E. H. Cunningham purchased a total of 12,500-acre plantation land in the 1890s. He invested in a sugar refinery, a paper mill, and a railroad with Sugar Land as one of its stations.

Isaac H. Kempner of Galveston and William T. Eldridge acquired the Cunningham property in the 1900s and merged it with an adjacent plantation. The facilities were modernized, and a company town was built.

From the 1900s onwards, the town continued to grow in terms of economic and residential developments. Sugar Land was established in 1959.

The first master-planned community in the area is Sugar Creek. Plans to develop the 1,200-acre plot of land started in the late 1960s, and construction started a few years right after.

Most residential units were finished by 1980, but newer homes were built until 1998.
