Fox Inspectation Group released the following helpful home reminder today:
With Gustav coming use the heavy rains to check your rain gutter operation, see if your site drainage around your home could use some improvement, and look for roof leaks.

The above links will take you to a comcast.com short video showing you how tell if your rain gutters are clogged.
Do you have poor site drainage?
When it rains hard, that is the time (during the heavy rains) to walk around your home and check for proper site drainage.
Look for areas where the rain collects or gets deep enough to rise above your foundation.
If it gets close, it may be time to call a landscaper and discuss ways to improve your site drainage.
If you have an underground drainage system with drains in your yard, this is the perfect time to check for proper operation / clogged yard drains.
Does your Roof Leak?
During heavy rains, carefully venture into your attic with a high powered flashlight and check for any rain water entry.
Scan all roof penetrations (where plumbing vents, chimneys, kitchen vents, etc.) for any signs of water entry.
