Downtown Houston Activities: Week of September 18

Despite Hurricane Ike, Downtown Houston and the Medical Center never lost power.  Following is an update on the events in Downtown as provided by the Downtown Houston Management District.

Back to business
Thanks to the City of Houston's Public Works Department and the Downtown District's operations and street teams for all the hard work they have done to clean up downtown.
They were out in action first thing after the storm Saturday. Our city is in recovery mode and most downtown companies are fortunate enough to be up and running. Remember to check with your supervisors about the status of your building and work schedule.

Transportation
Metro has resumed its regular bus service and its Park & Ride service will continue on an abbreviated schedule.

While METRORail is not yet operational, buses are running along that line. Woodlands Express has resumed its full operating schedule; however riders can expect some delays due to road conditions.

Because of power outages, Woodlands Express riders are also reminded that ticket sales must be made with check or cash in the exact amount of purchase.

City Services
Downtown's water pressure is back to normal and the city of Houston has informed us that tap water is safe to drink. For information on city services, visit their Website where you'll find information regarding storm debris removal, garbage collection, recycling and more.

Downtown life
Most of downtown's street-level restaurants are open for business along with restaurants and food vendors located in major buildings and tunnel areas. The CVS Pharmacy on the corner of McKinney and Main and Main Food Store are also open.

George R. Brown Convention Center
