It’s no secret that downtown Houston is undergoing a great deal of renovations, but hidden among all of the fast-paced developments is a residential building that has been standing for nearly 100 years.

The Beaconsfield is listed as a historic building by the U.S. Interior Department National Register of Historic Buildings. Despite its age, the building is still one of the most unique loft condominiums in Downtown Houston.

Having been built in 1911, The Beaconsfield is recorded in the history books as the oldest residential high-rise building in the city.

Located on 1700 Main Street, The Beaconsfield is right in the heart of downtown Houston and close to Midtown Houston.

The seven-story building hoses 18 units, with most of the floors containing two spacious units.

The floor plans for these units range from 1,800-square-feet to 2,250-square-feet, including two or three bedrooms with bathrooms. The price for each unit ranges from about $100,000 to $450,000.

Units have either two or three bedrooms and each unit has a dining room and living room.

The units also have large windows to bring in sunlight and ventilation. Hardwood oak floors are another great feature of the loft condominiums at The Beaconsfield.

One of the plus sides of living in The Beaconsfield is that its management is committed to taking good care of the building.

At nearly 100 years old, The Beaconsfield still looks good and is in great shape. The lobby is done in Old World fashion, with antique-style furniture, large French doors, and stained-glass panels.

Concierge services are available and the building has a laundry with dry cleaning services.

To ensure that The Beaconsfield is in top shape, the management has been making renovations, including the renovation of the lobby, waterproofing of the basement, replacement of the elevator, reparation and repainting of the exterior, and replacement of the roof and water pipes.

The location of The Beaconsfield gives residents quick access to the MetroRail and to the many highways and freeways in the area.

Just in the vicinity of the building are the Toyota Center, St. Joseph Medical Center, and numerous restaurants, bars, lounges, and retail shops.
