Briarmeadow TX History


James E. Lyon, a real estate developer and businessman, spearheaded Briarmeadow's development in 1955. 258 acres of the neighborhood were initially reserved for commercial and retail, and 18 acres for residential.

The post-war housing boom and Interstate 10 contributed to West Houston's development. Buffalo Bayou's properties were bought up by developers during the 1950s and 1960s in particular.

Located between Gessner and Chimney Rock Road, Briarmeadow (also called Briarmeadow/Woodlake or Briarmeadow/Tanglewilde) is a large neighborhood. In the area, suburban neighborhoods are popular for their verdant surroundings and close-knit communities.


Fun Things To Do Near Briarmeadow Houston


The Briar Meadow/Woodlake area is a mix of residential communities, retail centers, and busy main roads lined with commercial establishments.

It runs along Westheimer Road and Richmond Avenue, two major roads in Houston. Briargrove Shopping Center, Spectrum Shopping Center, and Woodlake Square are a few of the retail centers located along both roads.

Several parks are also located within the Briarmeadow area, including the newly renovated Briarmeadow Park.
