Nestled within Rice Military, Caceres covers covers an 8-acre area north of Memorial Drive, south of Washington Avenue, east of Westcott Street, and west of Shepherd Drive.

Made up of around 120 properties, Caceres is known for its 4- to 5-story luxury villas and townhomes built between 2007 and 2016.
Caceres townhomes and villas typically feature 2- to 4-bedroom floor plans spread over 2,500 to upwards of 4,500 square feet. Lot sizes range from 1,400 to 2,900 square feet.
Drawing inspiration from the pueblos blancos (white villages) of Andalusia, Spain, homes in the area stand out with their wrought iron fixtures, tiled roofs, multi-level floors, and white stucco exteriors.
Caceres homes also offer roof-top terraces, interior courtyards, and great views of the city.

The area now known as Rice Military used to be part of tracts from the Rice family and the Howe family. Both tracts were acquired by Bankers Trust Co. in 1910 and later developed into the subdivision.
During the 1990s and 2000s, young professionals and artists were drawn to the neighborhood and the influx of demand sparked new development in the area.
In 2006, Y-H Sabinal acquired 8 acres of land roughly bordered by Reinerman, Feagan, and Detering Streets. Two home builders were tapped for the upscale gated community: Rohe & Wright (Winfield Gate, 1714 Ashland, Crain Square, and Bell Heights) and Black Diamond.

For options closer to home, Caceres does offer some outdoor activity areas, including a community swimming pool and six pocket parks, including the central oval park adorned with a 22-ton fountain.
