Adjacent to the Johnson Space Center, Clear Lake is a master-planned community located within the Galveston Bay Area.
Located about 22 miles southeast of Downtown, some parts of Clear Lake sits within Houston, while others are in Pasadena and Taylor Lake Village.

Guide To Clear Lake Homes For Sale
Clear Lake Houston can trace its roots back to a sprawling 30,000-acre ranch previously owned by James Marion West, a prominent businessman. West sold his property to Humble Oil – now known as ExxonMobil – after oil was discovered on the property.
During the early 1960s, NASA’s Manned Spacecraft Center set up shop next door, spurring the area’s growth. In 1963, Humble Oil and the Del E. Webb Corporation formed Friendswood Development to develop 15,000 acres of the property.
Clear Lake City was eventually annexed into the city of Houston in 1977.
The community is made up of several neighborhoods: Bay Forest, Bay Glen, Bay Knoll, Bay Oaks, Bay Pointe, Brook Forest, Brookwood, Clear Lake Forest,Camino South, Meadowgreen, Middlebrook, and Northfork, Oakbrook, Oakbrook West, and Pinebrook.
Located near the Sam Houston Parkway (Beltway 8) and bisected by the Gulf Freeway (I-45), Clear Lake homes have convenient access to key Houston neighborhoods like Downtown, the Medical Center, and the Museum District.
Residents don’t have to go very far for retail, entertainment, dining, and business centers, however, as there are plenty located within and around the city’s borders. Parks, schools, restaurants, shops, and outdoor activity centers are all within minutes of Clear Lake homes for sale.
