Fall Creek TX History

Fall Creek, situated within Humble City, has a history shaped by pioneering settlers and economic opportunities.

Joseph Dunman was among the first to establish roots in the area.

Pleasant Smith Humble was the area's namesake. He got land on the San Jacinto River and started a ferry service. Over time, Humble expanded his operations. He added a post office to his home. He became a prominent figure as a justice of the peace.

The discovery of oil brought rapid expansion, leading to the establishment of Humble Oil and Refining Company (now Exxon).

As the oil boom subsided, residents turned to farming and lumbering. Eventually, Humble incorporated, adopting a council-manager government.

The building of the Eastex Freeway (Highway 59) and Houston Intercontinental Airport helped Fall Creek grow. They marked milestones in its journey from humble beginnings to a thriving area.
