Five Corners History


Five Corners, a neighborhood located in the southeastern part of Houston, got its name from the convergence of five streets – Almeda Road, Cullen Boulevard, Telephone Road, Reveille Street, and Griggs Road.

In the early 20th century, Five Corners was primarily an agricultural area. In the 1920s, it was largely rural and was primarily used for farming and ranching. It has since transformed into a bustling residential and commercial district.

Due to the post-World War II economic boom in the 1950s, Five Corners experienced a surge in development as many new homes were built, and the area saw an influx of new residents.

Today, Five Corners is a vibrant and diverse community with a mix of residential and commercial areas. It is home to a number of schools, parks, and community centers, as well as a variety of businesses ranging from small shops to large chain stores.
