Fleetwood is a small community within Houston’s Energy Corridor. Made up of mostly single-family properties, the neighborhood is adorned with mature trees and some of its homes offer views of the bayou.
The neighborhood sits east of Highway 6 and Addicks-Howell Road, south of Interstate 10, north of Terry Hershey Park. It is nestled south of Barkers Landing and north of Briarhills.
Fleetwood is under two homeowners associations: Fleetwood West and Fleetwood Property Owners Association. Fleetwood West covers 90 single-family homes and patio homes located south of Memorial Drive. Fleetwood POA, on the other hand, is made up of 450 single-family homes.
Residents have easy access to several main roads, including Interstate 10 (Katy Freeway), Highway 6, Memorial Drive, and Eldridge Parkway.
Key districts like Memorial City, Westchase District, and the Galleria area are highly accessible from the neighborhood.
The Energy Corridor itself is one of Houston’s main employment centers. It is home to several oil and energy companies with over 80,000 employees. Companies with operations in the district include BP, Citgo, ConocoPhillips, Dow Chemical, ExxonMobil Chemical, and Foster Wheeler.

Fleetwood is mostly made up of single-family homes and features a section with patio homes. Fleetwood homes are mostly from the early 1970s, though some properties in the area are fairly new or have been updated.
The typical Fleetwood home can feature 3 to 4 bedrooms with 2 to 3 baths. Home sizes range from 1,800 to around 3,500 square feet.
The most expensive Fleetwood real estate can offer as many as 6 bedrooms spread over 5,600 square feet of living space. Swimming pools, 3-car garages, spacious master suites, and large wooded lots are common features.
Compared to neighborhoods east of Beltway 8, Fleetwood features slightly smaller lots, with sizes ranging from 4,000 to more than 10,000 square feet.
Architectural styles lean toward traditional designs with brick veneer or brick and wood exteriors. One- and two-story homes are available in the area.
Prices for Fleetwood homes for sale start at around $275,000 and can get up to more than $850,000.
There are no townhomes in the Fleetwood area, albeit the neighborhood does feature a patio home section. There are several townhome options available in nearby Energy Corridor areas however, specifically new construction along Park Row.

The west Houston/Memorial area was mostly made up of cattle ranches, saw mills, and a handful of homes.
Houston’s westward expansion and the completion of I-10 sparked growth in the area, with developers purchasing tracts of land and building subdivisions and communities along the lush banks of the Buffalo Bayou.
Fleetwood was built some time during this period (early 1970s) and has continued to be a popular neighborhood in the Energy Corridor area.
During the same period, Shell Oil Company and Conoco moved operations along Interstate 10. This sparked growth in the area as other oil and gas companies also chose to build campuses and offices in the area. Today, over 80,000 employees work in the Energy District.
Fleetwood residents have plenty of outdoor recreation, dining, and nightlife options minutes away from their homes.
George Bush Park, a 7,800-acre county park, is a few minutes away from the Fleetwood area, just across Highway 6. The park is a nature reserve with a variety of sports fields (soccer and baseball/softball), a field for flying model aircraft, pavilions, playgrounds, ponds, and hike-and-bike trails. The park is also home to the American Shooting Center.
George Bush Park’s trail network connects to Terry Hershey Park, a 500-acre park that meanders east toward Beltway 8 and branches north to Interstate 10. Named after a conservationist, the park features a trail network, with paved asphalt trails and dirt trails for bikes.
For retail and entertainment, residents have plently of options available nearby. Restaurants, cafes, bars, and other commercial establishments line Highway 6.
West Oaks Mall, a shopping center with over 100 stores, lies about 3 miles south of Fleetwood homes. The mall features over 1 million square feet of leasable space. Its anchor stores include Dillard’s Clearance Center, Fortis College, Palais Royal, and Sears.
