Oak Park Trails was established in 1991, during a period of growth in the Greater Katy area.
The area where Oak Park Trails now sits is home to a cluster of residential neighborhoods with a few commercial areas in between. During the early 1890s though, Greater Katy was a sparsely populated prairie – with areas around the Buffalo Bayou largely wooded.
Thanks to the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (which started operating through the area in 1895), more people settled in the area, establishing farms and ranches. By 1945, the city of Katy was incorporated.
Several years later, developers started buying up the ranches and farms to build homes. Cinco Ranch was one of the most notable early developments in the area.
Today, growth continues in Greater Katy. Communities like Oak Park Trails continue to be popular options thanks to the KISD’s award-winning schools, improved accessibility, and great retail and entertainment nearby.
Oak Park Trails enjoys proximity to points of interest both in Greater Katy and Houston, including The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch, the LaCenterra, and George Bush Park.
The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch is a stone’s throw away from Oak Park Trails homes. It features an 18-hole, par 71 Carlton Gibson-designed golf course, practice greens and driving ranges, a clubhouse, and a restaurant and grill.
Nearby Cinco Ranch also features a 34-acre mixed use development, LaCenterra. The upscale development features spaces for retail, dining, offices, and residential apartments.
Residents also have George Bush Park within easy driving distance. The park features several sports facilities, multi-use trails, and picnic areas, among others.
For recreational facilities closer to home, Oak Park Trails residents can enjoy the community’s amenities. The neighborhood has a clubhouse, a swimming pool, splash pads, lighted tennis courts, and walking trails.
