Pine Forest real estate is made up of around 140 single-family homes. Built between the late 1970s up to the late 1980s, homes in the area typically sit on spacious wooded lots. The median lot size in the neighborhood is at around 21,000 square feet.
Most Pine Forest homes are older properties and have been carefully updated. The neighborhood features a mix of two-story traditional homes, bungalows, and ranch-style homes.
Pine Forest homes typically feature 3 to 4 bedrooms with 2 to 3 full baths. Home sizes range from 2,000 to more than 3,800 square feet. Lot sizes, on the other hand, are often between 13,000 to 38,000 square feet.
Architectural styles vary in the neighborhood. Most lean toward traditional aesthetics, while some feature English, French, ranch and other architectural styles.

There are no mid- or high-rise Pine Forest condos for sale. The city of Katy, and most of the Greater Katy area, tend to lean toward single-family homes. Very few multi-family homes are available in the area, including within the mixed-use development LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch.
For residential condo options, homebuyers will have check out farther east in the Energy Corridor and Memorial areas of Houston. The Galleria is a popular choice for upscale condos and luxury lofts.

Once a small town along the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad, Katy was previously known as Cane Island (for the creek that still runs through the area). The railroad brought growth around the largely untouched prairie land during the late 1890s.
Many farmers and ranchers settled in the area, and in particular, rice farming flourished during the period.
In 1945, Katy was incorporated into a municipality, with its borders covering a 10.7-square mile area.
Many factors brought more development in the area, including the completion of Interstate 10 and Houston’s westward expansion. A number of master-planned communities, like Cinco Ranch, Green Trails, and Kelliwood, were developed in what is now known as the Greater Katy area.
Meanwhile, the city of Katy also saw residential growth within its borders. Pine Forest is one of Katy’s older neighborhoods, featuring around 145 homes built during the late 1970s up to the mid-1980s.
Today, the neighborhood of Pine Forest still has an old town vibe, with its spacious wooded lots, ranch-style homes, and quiet cul-de-sacs.
Pine Forest residents have easy access to the best Katy has to offer. Parks, restaurants, retail centers, and cafes are all within minutes of the neighborhood.
Mary Jo Peckham Park, on 5597 Gardenia Lane, features a number of amenities, including a miniture golf course, a playground, a community center and swimming pool, a walking trail and a jogging trail. The park also has picnic areas, a barbeque pavillion, and a gazebo. Rainbow trout fishing is available in the park’s lake.
The Katy City Park and the Dog Park are both located just beside Peckham Park. The 14-acre off-leash dog park features walking paths, a wading pool, dog showers, and drinking fountains. The city park, on the other hand, has a recently renovated sports facility with two baseball fields, 2 softball fields, a pavillion with 3 basketball courts, 6 tennis courts, and a soccer/flag football field.
