During the 1900s, the Greater Katy area was made up of rice farms, and horse and cattle ranches. During this period, the area was growing, thanks to the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad that ran through Katy, which at the time was a small settlement.
As the town grew (it was incorporated in 1945), so did the surrounding areas. The completion of Interstate 10, coupled with the demand for more housing post-WWII, drew people into the Greater Katy area.
Some master-planned communities like Cinco Ranch, Green Trails, Pin Oak Village, and Kelliwood were developed during the 1970s and 1980s. Silver Ranch is a much more recent development, breaking ground in the late 2000s.
The community is from Ersa Grae Corporation, the same developers behind Falcon Ranch. Notable builders like David Weekley Homes, Brighton Homes, and Meritage Homes offer homes in Silver Ranch.
Today, Silver Ranch is still quite popular, its homes continue to sell well. Its great schools, new construction homes, and peaceful, small town vibe contributes much to the community’s appeal.
