Westheimer Lakes North is a relatively new master-planned community, an addition to the Canyon Gate Communities’ (Land Tejas Companies) first development project in the Grand Parkway Corridor. Westheimer Lakes is a 592-acre residential community located south of FM 1093/Westpark Tollway. It features several neighbborhoods, some of which are gated.
The area now known as Greater Katy used to be largely made up of farms and horse and cattle farms. Several have since been bought and developed into master-planned communities and residential neighborhoods.
A number of factors sparked growth in the area, including Houston’s growth westward and the completion of Interstate 10. Future development in Greater Katy, like the Westpark Tollway expansion, promises to bring more growth in the area.
Retail and entertainment centers are minutes away from Westheimer Lakes North homes. For some pursuits though, residents don’t have to drive far from home.
The community features a recreation center and a swimming pool. Located at the corner of Westheimer Lakes N Drive and Richwood Oaks Drive, the Westheimer Lakes North Clubhouse has covered porches, a kitchen, and a serving bar. Outdoor amenities within the recreation center grounds include a toddler splash pool, a Junior Olympic-size pool, and a children’s playground.
There are also a number of restaurants and retail stores within Westheimer Lakes North’s commercial areas along FM 1093.
For more retail options, the LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is a short drive away from the community. Katy Mills Mall is also highly accessible via Grand Parkway or FM 1463.
