“Lisa was wonderful at understanding what I was looking for and finding many possibilities. When viewing homes she was terrific at noticing and pointing out features - both positive and negative. I always felt like she was looking for the best home for me. Her advice during the negotiation process was so very helpful. She then followed up on every issue raised. Her team exceeded my expectation during the closing process. They provided an excellent summary of key dates and actions required and relevant information. And they reminded me at each step.” - Jeri Eagan (Google Review)

Kemah TX History

The story of Kemah, Texas, is about its past mixing Native American traditions, importance for sailors, and modern growth. It sits by Galveston Bay and has changed a lot over time.

Long ago, before newcomers from Europe, Native American groups like the Akokisa and Karankawa lived there. They used the bay for food and trade, and their culture influenced the area.

In the 1800s, settlers from Europe came, and Kemah started being known for sailing. Fishing, shrimping, and getting oysters became important jobs. In 1907, a railroad came to Kemah, which helped with travel and trade.

Even the name "Kemah" is special. It's thought to mean "wind in face" in Native American words, talking about the winds by the coast.

In the early 1900s, Kemah was still good for fishing and fun. A bridge in 1939 connected it more to the rest of the land, which helped it grow.

But the biggest change came when the Kemah Boardwalk was built in 1997. It turned Kemah into a fun place for tourists. There were rides, places to eat, shops, and a marina. This made it much more than just a small fishing town.

Now, Kemah remembers its sailing history and also makes visitors happy. The boardwalk is a big deal, with lots of people coming for the happy vibes and nice views of the bay. They also have events like the Crawfish Festival and Jazz Festival, showing off their different cultures.

Kemah, Texas, has changed a lot but still keeps its special character. It's a place where people adapt and grow, from the days of Native Americans to now when it's a lively spot for fun and enjoying the water.
