Memorial West Houston Homes For Sale & Real Estate Guide

Memorial West Houston Real Estate Guide

Memorial West is a collection of subdivisions and gated communities located west of Gessner Road and east of Highway 6.

Covering the western portion of Memorial Houston, Memorial West is made up of a collection of over two dozen neighborhoods.

Memorial West homes are consistently in demand thanks to:

  • EXCITING ACTIVITIES: Memorial West residents enjoy diverse entertainment options. Shopping and retail havens like the Memorial City Mall, the CityCentre Plaza, and Town & Country Village are minutes from neighborhood. Also nearby is Terry Hershey Park, a network of trails along the Buffalo Bayou spanning over 500 acres.
  • WIDE VARIETY OF HOME OPTIONS: Neighborhoods in the area feature a wide variety of home options, from ranch-style homes from the 1950s to new construction custom built homes. Homes within luxury gated communities are also available within the neigborhood

Memorial West real estate is tricky to navigate given the different school zoning maps, abundance of major thoroughfares (living on one hurts resale), amount of non-MLS inventory available, and a diversity of builders (some are far superior to others). Contact Paige Martin, one of Houston’s Best Realtors and one of Memorial’s most active real estate agents, if you’re looking to buy or sell Memorial West homes for sale.

Memorial West TX History

Like most of west Houston, the Memorial West area used to be made up of farms and sawmills. The area’s development started in earnest during the post-war housing boom that came about in the 1950s and 60s.

The construction of Interstate 10, which made it easier to reach downtown Houston, as well as the rising demand for housing, led developers to build subdivisions around the Buffalo Bayou.

During the same period, Houston started growing westward. Unincorporated areas were annexed into the Bayou City.

The lush surroundings, commercial development, and growing job centers drew people into Memorial West. Improving amenities, like schools and retail centers, also factored into the area’s popularity.

Today, Memorial West homes are still very popular and are among the most desirable in west Houston.
