Needville TX History
Needville was first established around 1981 under the name of Schendelville. August Schendel, who founded Schendelville, applied for a post office in 1894 using the name Needmore. This was supposedly a joke suggesting that his town 'needed more' of everything. The post office changed it to Needville because Needmore TX already exists. The name stuck ever since.
The town began to form in 1898 when Schendel started selling lots. More establishments rose, and in 1914, the population reached 100. Time went on, and as Needville advanced era after era, it finally got incorporated. By the year 2000, 2,609 people resided in Needville.
