Oak Forest West TX History

Oak Forest was founded in 1947 by Frank Sharp through his company, Oak Forest Realty Corporation.

In 1949, the neighborhood was annexed and became the third largest group of subdivisions in Harris County, after Sharpstown and Kingwood.

Initially, there was only one section of the neighborhood. Sharp later expanded the neighborhood by developing 17 more sections.

Oak Forest was also designed with specific areas for schools, parks, places of worship, and enterprises.

Many homes in the area still retain their original designs from the 1940s and 1950s. Some of these houses still have their original homeowners living in them.
