Omega Bay TX History


Omega Bay is situated within the larger community of La Marque, originally named Highlands.

In the 1890s, it was discovered that the town shared a name with another place. As a result, the town's name was changed to La Marque, which translates to "the mark."

During the Civil War, the town gained the nickname Buttermilk Station. This was due to soldiers stopping to buy buttermilk on trips between Houston and Galveston.

Today, Omega Bay offers its own unique waterfront residential experience within La Marque. The community offers coastal living with diverse home options.
