The Lakes At Country Place is in Pearland, a private gated community. The origins of Pearland can be found on a railroad.

The railroad was left in such poor condition after the Civil War that it was abandoned. Land ownership was changed before the Gulf, Colorado, and Santa Fe Railroad Company acquired the rail rights.

The area currently known as Pearland was formerly known as "Mark Belt," after a local landowner. Withold von Zychlinski, a Polish aristocrat bought a sizable piece of land and built towns on both sides of the tracks.

Eventually, fruit trees were planted to help advertise the housing sites in the region. Pearland is now populated by over 100,000 people.
