Pomona TX History
Pomona is a master-planned community in Manvel, Texas. Manvel itself has a historical background as an agricultural community since the mid-1800s.
In 1857, the first group of people came to the area and settled near Chocolate Bayou. The place had a good climate and fertile soil, so they started farming and growing fruit. They named the settlement Pomona, which means "fruit" in Latin, specifically orchard fruit.
Later, in 1877, when the railroads came, the settlement was given a new name, Manvel, after the President of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway.
In honor of the history of Manvel, the name Pomona was chosen for the new community built. The properties in Pomona have a median build year of 2018.
Pomona was planned with five important principles to create a great community. These principles are connection, well-being, enrichment, stewardship, and convenience.
Today, Pomana offers a balance between small-town charm and big-city living.
