Located in an area spanning two of Houston’s best suburbs, Riverstone is an upscale master-planned community from multi-award winning Johnson Development.
Located about 25 miles southwest of downtown Houston, Riverstone is an upscale master-planned community spanning a 3,700-acre area in Fort Bend County. It is made up of several sections, some of which are gated.
The community’s master-plan sets aside space for commercial and office areas, along with 500 acres for open space and park areas, 250 acres for lakes, and 20 miles of trails. Riverstone also has an on-site school, Anne Sullivan Elementary School (opened in 2016).
Parks line Riverstone’s southern areas, particularly sections bordered by and near Brazos River.
Portions of the master-planned community sit within Missouri City’s borders, while other sections are within the extraterritorial jurisdictions of both Sugar Land and Missouri City. As a result, some Riverstone homes have Missouri City addresses, while others have Sugar Land addresses.
Riverstone Shopping Center, Missouri Shopping Center, and Williams Trace Shopping Center are all within a short drive away.
Thanks to the community’s location, residents have almost immediate access to Highway 6. Southwest Freeway (Highway 59), Fort Bend Parkway Toll Road, and US 90 Alt are all highly accessible from Riverstone homes.

Riverstone homes are zoned to the Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD).
The Fort Bend ISD covers a 170-square mile area and serves most of Riverstone. It also covers some parts of Pearland, Houston, Missouri City, and the city of Meadows Place. The Texas Education Agency gave the district a “Recognized” rating in 2010. The FBISD was named a National School District of Character in 2011 (National Schools of Character Program).

Over 400 Riverstone homes were sold in 2016.
John Burns Real Estate Consulting and Robert Charles Lesser & Co. placed the master-planned community at the top of their Houston-area development list. Real estate consulting firm RCLCO also ranked Riverstone 16th in their Top-Selling Master-Planned Communities list (mid-year 2017).
As the community is nearly built out, fewer new construction homes will be available in the area over the next few years. There are, however, plenty of resale Riverstone properties on the market.

Riverstone homes typically offer 3- to 8-bedroom floor plans with living spaces ranging from 1,500 to over 15,000 square feet. Lot sizes vary widely as well, 5,000 to upwards of 25,000 square feet.
The most expensive Riverstone homes are located within The Island, Hartford Landing, and Majestic Pointe. Lakefront, custom-built, and estate-style homes in the community typically fetch higher price tags.
Luxury Riverstone homes sell from $700,000 to over $6,000,000. These homes are from premier builders Darling Homes, Partners in Building, Sterling Classic Homes, Westport, Sims Luxury Builders, Peterson Home Builders, and Lespreance Construction.
Architectural designs range from traditional styles to more modern/contemporary aesthetics. Mediterranean influences are also apparent in some sections of the community.
Prices for Riverstone homes for sale can start at around $250,000. Upscale real estate in the community can fetch over $6,000,000 price tags.
Detached single-family homes are a more popular housing option in the community, though there are a few sections (like The Manors at Riversone) with townhomes and patio homes.
Riverstone townhomes are mostly smaller, with living spaces ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. Lot sizes are typically between 2,000 and 3,500 square feet.
Multi-level living spaces, attached garages, and 3- to 4-bedroom floor plans are common.
Riverstone townhomes for sale can sell for $270,000 to over $350,000.
There are no mid- or high-rise condos in Riverstone, though there is an upscale apartment and townhome complex in the area called The Retreat at Riverstone.
The multi-family development offers its own set of community amenities including a resort-style pool, a club room, a billiards room, a fitness center, a cyber cafe, a lounge kitchen, and garages. The complex is pet-friendly and boasts of 2 dog parks.
Homebuyers can also check out City Plaza at Town Square, a 4-story luxury condo located within the vibrant Sugar Land Town Square district.

Riverstone opened in 2001, with multi-award winning Johnson Development at the helm. Located in affluent Fort Bend County, the 3,700-acre parcel north of Brazos River and south of SH 6 was slated as a mixed-use development.

Riverstone is expected to have 6,000 homes upon completion.
Riverstone showcases a bevy of lifestyle amenities including several parks, lakes and a fishing pier, playgrounds, pavilions, a fully-equipped fitness center, lighted tennis courts, and a 3.5-acre dog park.
Riverstone also features 3 recreation complexes: Riverstone Boulevard Recreation Center, Creekstone Village Recreation Center, and The Club at Riverstone.
The community’s newest rec center, the Club at Riverstone, covers 17 acres just off University Boulevard. The Club’s pool complex boasts of a resort-style swimming pool with water slides and spray elements, a zero-entry lagoon, and a splash pad.
The Club at Riverstone also showcases an 8,000-square foot clubhouse with a fitness center, conference rooms, and a catering kitchen. Other amenities at the Club include lighted tennis courts and a pavilion. Big Adventure Park is the Club’s themed playground that also features a zip line.
Riverstone Shopping Center and Missouri City Shopping Center (both along Highway 6) are just outside the neighborhood.
Riverstone Shopping Center features over 30 stores, services, and restaurants. The open shopping mall covers more than 270,000 square feet of leasable space.
Plenty of other retail, dining, and entertainment hubs line Highway 6 and Southwest Freeway. First Colony Mall and Sugar Land Town Square are minutes away.
