Amira TX History


Amira is steeped in history and nostalgia. For years, the land that is now Amira was a former Egyptian Arabian horse ranch. With a nod to the ranch’s former inhabitants, Amira takes its name from one of the most popular horses on the ranch.

Amira is a 549-acre community located just north of the Grand Parkway and East of Mueschke Road in Tomball.

Buyers from around the world traveled to the DeShazer Ranch, where they watched from what is now The Resort at Amira as the horses were brought into a courtyard from surrounding stalls. While the paddocks are no longer in place, the show arena still serves four-legged animals, albeit much smaller ones. It is now known as Derby Dog Park.

The community is housing a 7,000-square-foot clubhouse with a fitness room, children’s reading nook, kitchen, yoga studio, and onsite HOA management. The sun-drenched courtyard offers lake views from shaded patios featuring flat-screen televisions. The gorgeous pool offers separate areas for adults and children.

The real estate in the neighborhood has appreciated significantly over the years. From 2019 to 2022, the neighborhood price trend is constantly increasing. Stores, restaurants, retail centers, and more are springing up around the area.
