• Memorial Drive Elementary School at 11202 Smithdale Dr. The school is the second oldest school facility in the district. Nestled half a mile from Interstate 10, serving students from Pre-K through Grade 5. The school's student population comprises special education, at-risk, gifted/talented, and minority students.

• Rummel Creek Elementary School at 625 Britmoore Dr. Nestled in the forested region north of Buffalo Bayou, the school was built in 1962. Rummel Creek has a rating of 10 on GreatSchools.org and serves students in grades Pre-K through 5th. The school offers special after-school clusters and after-school child care granted by After3.

• Valley Oaks Elementary School at 8390 Westview Dr. Valley Oaks Elementary commits to STEM education. The school opened its doors in 1956 and served students from grades Pre-K through fifth grade. In the past, the facility has hosted activities such as chess, art after school, baseball, and violin.

Middle School:

• Memorial Middle School at 12550 Vindon Dr. The school obtained a score of 9 on the GreatSchools.org rating, serving students from grades 6th to 8th. The school opened its doors in the Fall of 1963 and has attributes that equip refined academic techniques. In 1991, the school's name was changed to Memorial Middle School to recollect the change in philosophy.

Westchester TX History

Westchester, as part of the Memorial West area, was primarily comprised of farms and sawmills. During the post-war housing boom that came about in the 1950s and 60s, the area's development had just begun.
